A
new metallica album is coming up. After several delays the album is now officially scheduled to be released in September of 2008. According to Lars Ulrich in a recent BBC radio interview the album must be finished within 6 weeks (april 4 2008) in order to get it ready for release in september. In the midst of all the media fuzz and delays surrounding the album several song titles has been suggested and a few fakes are criculating. Some of the rumours were actually started by Lars Ulrich himself after he revealed some of the working titles to untitled songs. these titles only serve as tags for te band to remember the songs while working in the studio and are only temporary. Of course this leads to misunderstandings among fans and a few people are now walking around believing the next metallica album will feature song titles like "Black Squirrel" and "Glass Cow" among several other equally daft titles. On youtube several fake metallica songs are circulating as well, mainly from other bands trying to promote their songs by claiming to be Metallica. These are labeled as a "leaked demo tapes" from Metallica's new album or similar. This is a common thing whenever an artist releases a new album and it causes a lot of confusion, but its part of the game and it actually adds to fun and excitement over the upcoming album on my part. There are currently two confirmed song titles: "Vulturous" and" Death is not the end". Metallica has played these songs several times on tours the last years and they are widely available on the web. In the coming year we will hopefully be fed more of these little sneak previews. The excpectations are high this time, expectations are always high with a new album from metallica but something gives me the feeling this album wil be a somewhat more important addition to metallica's discography than St.anger was. Lets hope the new metallica album lives up to its promise.
