People like consistency. They like shove everything into categories and neatly tie bows around them. It makes them feel complacent.A year ago I stumbled across a web site that intrigued me because it defies categories, providing erotic music videos of gorgeous muscle men. Sure, that has been done before, but not with contemporary club remixes. The videos are soft core porn. But not really. They are beefcake imagery, yet more erotic and sensual. They show glimpses of the guys' goods, and then take them away, leaving the viewer wanting more. The site entices and seduces without being in-your-face.If hard-pressed we could mash and squeeze it in the soft core category, but doing so would be a disservice to its genius.I showed my girlfriends and they didn't know what to make of the site (other than wiping the drool from their mouths). My conservative friends turned away during certain parts of the videos, as if looking would send them on an express path to hell. Other more liberal friends felt disappointment that they didn't get to see the guys in all their glory.Religion teaches us that the human body is sacred, and genitals should only be used for procreation. Only, humans by nature are sexual beings. That is why sex feels good. We were meant to find pleasure in sex and the human body.Society, and more specifically the law, says that a naked body should only be seen in private with another loving consenting adult, that if we expose ourselves publically we will be arrested. But people yearn to show off what they have worked so hard to accomplish with their bodies. It has become a rage video sites - amateurs flexing, posing, and stripping. Our society lacks on a number of levels such as intimacy and passion. Besides feeling a huge crunch on our personal time, the workforce instills in us that human contact is bad and worthy of a lawsuit and fraternization with coworkers is grounds for dismissal. We attend workshops that drone on about what we can and cannot say, for fear sexual harassment. We live in a sexually repressed society, with so few options for expressing the sexual selves. Inside, we scream to be set free, but we are fearful. The internet has provided us a way to explore our sexual sides without the condemnation of our family, friends, religion and law. There are niches on the web that appeal to our most remote desires. Interestingly, those niches still fall into two larger categories - porn or beefcake. So when a site like MalePerfection.net enters the market, providing content that doesn't fit into any category, people are unsure what to make of it. They compare it to porn and it falls short. When pitted it against beefcake it seems tawdry. If weighed against mainstream music videos it is risque.Occasionally it’s great to stumble upon sites that are willing to take risks. They are so few and far between.
