The 10 Greatest Hard Rock Band of All Time
The 10 Greatest
Hard Rock Band of All Time
You
want the Ten Greatest hard rock bands of all time? The votes are in and all
tallied up. Everyone polled had their own opinion many agreed, some didn’t.
Music is a very personal thing and when it comes to rock, especially Hard Rock
fans take it VERY personally. It’s hard to argue with someone who has their
fist in the air, banging their head viciously. But, most headbangers we polled can agree on at least ten. This is who made the cut:
1) href="http://www.the-top-tens.com/items/ac-dc-35.asp">AC/DC
More energy and attitude
than a high voltage power plant running at full capacity!
They are the definition of hard rock for at least three generations. We salute
you.
2) Snew
Their first album should be
noticed as the first great rock album of the new era and not just 2008. The
frenzy exploded upon us this year with the release of “Snew You” and without a
doubt champions the hard rock genre like no band has in twenty years. The first
cut “Stand Up High” says it all. For those who’ve felt
ignored by a music industry who’ve not listened to
their demands for real rock music… the gods have answered our prayers. Go to href="http://www.snewyou.com/" target="_blank">www.snewyou.com and join the millions who
shout SNEW YOU!
3) Black Sabbath
Perhaps the most influential
band in hard rock history is Black Sabbath they are the undisputed creators of
heavy metal and influenced everyone from Judas Priest to Metallica,
Marilyn Manson to Slipknot. Even genre like Punk, Goth and Alternative would
not have existed without them.
4) href="http://www.the-top-tens.com/items/led-zeppelin-32.asp">Led Zeppelin
Jimmy Page, Robert Plant,
John Paul Jones, John Bonham....Led Zeppelin. The other most influential
hard rock band ever. Turning late sixties blues into thunder, brilliant!
Though they borrowed heavily from the past, they took us into the stratosphere
like no one before or since.
5) Motorhead
Motorhead took hard rock to the extreme and gave us a road map
for the heavy metal collision course. Raw, fast and in your face like only Lemmy ever could. This is where we learned how to head
bang.
6) href="http://www.the-top-tens.com/items/kiss-41.asp">Kiss
Their legions in the Kiss
Army speak louder than words. They are perhaps the greatest live band ever
seen. Nobody else put on a show like these guys. Don’t let the make up fool you
just listen to “Alive” and all arguments will cease.
7) The Ramones
There would be no punk rock without
them. But if you listen closely you’ll find that every chord is pure hard
rock. There would be no Metallica or Guns N Roses with out the Ramones.
They took hard rock and gave it the language of the streets. Gabba Gabby Hey!
8) Judas Priest
Judas Priest redefined hard
rock and gave us metal,
heavy f’ing Metal!
Not since Black Sabbath has anyone done more to define the genre.
9) href="http://www.the-top-tens.com/items/van-halen-38.asp">Van Halen
Eddie Van Halen became the first true guitar hero since Jimi Hendrix and inspired millions to play both real
and air guitar. The hard rock genre was reborn with an “Eruption”.
10) href="http://www.the-top-tens.com/items/guns-n-roses-39.asp">Guns N’ Roses
GNR single handedly reinvigorated hard rock in the late eighties. What was
becoming something to laugh at with all the glam and hair metal of the time
Guns ‘N Roses brought us back from the brink and the sales for their first
major release proved it. Hard rock fans finally got their “Appetite” back.
