I visited my old friend Bryan and his wife Janice last week. When I arrived they were poring over brochures for uPVC sash windows. I asked them why they were thinking of changing their timber sash windows? ‘I know that they are quite old, but they seem pretty good still’, I said.
Bryan told me that the timber windows were actually still in fairly good shape. But that was only because he paints them every four years or so and it is not an easy task to paint sash windows. ‘If we get these uPVC sash windows, I will never have to paint a window again’, he laughed.

I asked them about security, as I had heard that property break-ins were on the rise in the city. The told me that a good quality uPVC sash windows would have multi-point locking systems built into the framework of the window and that, coupled with double glazing, would make it difficult for any would-be burglar.
Janice said that she was very pleased with the range of colors that were available for the windows. ‘I thought that uPVC windows were only available in a small range of colors, but you can get nearly any color you like, including wood grain effects’, she said.
The also told me that the uPVC sash windows would help keep out noise pollution, which was great news to them as they front onto a busy street. When I left them they were trying to decide between several uPVC window manufacturers and I knew that they were going to be very happy with their new windows.
