uPVC Sash Windows Are The Real Deal. Ask Bryan.

February 25th, 2010

I visited my old friend Bryan and his wife Janice last week.  When I arrived they were poring over brochures for uPVC sash windows. I asked them why they were thinking of changing their timber sash windows? ‘I know that they are quite old, but they seem pretty good still’, I said.

Bryan told me that the timber windows were actually still in fairly good shape.  But that was only because he paints them every four years or so and it is not an easy task to paint sash windows.  ‘If we get these uPVC sash windows, I will never have to paint a window again’, he laughed.

They said the main reason that they were changing them was because the house was very difficult to heat and to keep warm.  uPVC windows have excellent insulation properties and if they installed these uPVC sash windows, it would mean a dramatic cut I their fuel bills, which were terribly high.

I asked them about security, as I had heard that property break-ins were on the rise in the city.  The told me that a good quality uPVC sash windows would have multi-point locking systems built into the framework of the window and that, coupled with double glazing, would make it difficult for any would-be burglar.

Janice said that she was very pleased with the range of colors that were available for the windows.  ‘I thought that uPVC windows were only available in a small range of colors, but you can get nearly any color you like, including wood grain effects’, she said.

The also told me that the uPVC sash windows would help keep out noise pollution, which was great news to them as they front onto a busy street.  When I left them they were trying to decide between several uPVC window manufacturers and I knew that they were going to be very happy with their new windows.

So you have decided to consider purchasing uPVC windows online.  Well done, you are taking the first step towards saving money on your windows purchase.  Here we have compiled a list that you will be able to use as a guideline to  help you through the process.  When purchasing anything online, it helps to have some clear goals and objectives.

Here is the checklist:

· Get over your trepidation of online purchasing.  You obviously have made the correct decision to look at purchasing windows online and do not change your mind.  Purchasing online should be no different than purchasing from your local uPVC window supplier.
· Research carefully the type of windows you desire.  UPVC sash windows compliment some houses but may not suit your particular residence.  Look up sites such as http://upvcwindowsguide.com for ideas regarding uPVC windows and the styles that may suit your home.
· Be clear regarding any features particular to the windows you want.  There are many different types of uPVC window locks, uPVC window handles and uPVC windows frames on the market and before you commit your self to a purchase, be sure of your selection.  The colour of the uPVC window frame you select will have an important impact on your residence, so choose carefully.
· Do not be afraid to haggle and do not be deterred by initial quotes.  Most websites have ‘contact us’ buttons and you should be able to e-mail the suppliers and tell them that you are not happy with their quote.  You might be rather surprised at how many of them will come back to you with improved quotes.

Purchasing uPVC windows online really means that you are cutting out the middleman and keeping some of the money he would earn in your own back pocket.  In these recessionary times, there is nothing wrong with that.
