Any family holiday will likely have to depend upon the economic status of the family involved. If there are budgetary considerations, these will affect the place, time of year, and the number of invitees. The next consideration is the makeup of the family. In other words is it the “traditional” family of mother, father, children, or is it a family made up of divorced parents with their combined children and perhaps also their children together, or is it same-sex parents of children or who have adopted children. Each given scenario will provide the need for different types of accommodation. Family vacations need not be budget-straining. For instance, why leave home at all? If you live in the US, holiday in the US and if you live in France, go on holiday in France. Plan daily excursions to places within driving or public transportation distance to your home. These could be fun and informative, especially if you live in or near a big city. With this kind of family vacation, you can invite your friends or your children’s friends to come along without seriously draining your bank account. This would also be a good idea for family vacations that must include children from other marriages, or for same-sex couples whose family vacations might be compromised by embarrassing moments for the children involved. If families living in Northern climes want to vacation down South during normal summer vacation time, it might be a good idea to check with the hotels there to find out what their refund policy is during storm season. Some places will refund hotel deposits if there are storm warnings. Remember hurricane season down South is June 30 to November 30, so be aware of the weather in your southern destination. For families whose plans do not have to be predicated on a budget, and whose entourage includes young children, it might be best to remember that long plane trips are usually not fun for for anyone travelling with them. It is probably best therefore, that you stay closer to home and keep the hours short until the children are old enough to enjoy the act of travelling itself.
About the Author
Family holidays should be enjoyable for everyone included in the family and any friends you have invited to come along too. You should therefore remember to pick a destination that the adults can enjoy along with the rest of the family. Also, parents need to keep in mind that a baby in a stroller will not necessarily enjoy or remember an expensive trip to any of the Disneyland holiday parks.
